Help Get Food to Our Community Café – Volunteer Driver Needed

Do you have a few hours to spare on Mondays and Wednesdays?
We need a friendly volunteer driver to pick up and deliver food to Millie’s Community Café.

Milnbank Housing Association works with FareShare and supermarkets to get surplus food. This food then gets sold at low prices in our Community Café and Food Pantry. We need a driver to collect this food twice a week and bring it to the café.

As a volunteer driver, you would:
  • Use your own vehicle (with appropriate insurance), or our van, 2 mornings per week
  • Pick up food from suppliers
  • Drop it off at Milie’s Community Café
  • The whole round trip should take around 3 hours each day
You’ll need:
  • A valid UK driving license
  • To be aged 25+, and confident driving a medium sized van, if driving one of our vehicles
  • Physically able to load/unload food supplies
  • A positive, friendly attitude – you’ll meet our lovely café staff each week
  • To join the PVG scheme (we will cover the fee for this).
By volunteering, you’ll:
  • Get skills and a reference for your CV (after 3 months)
  • Receive expenses for mileage and free lunch at the café on the days you work.
  • Get out and about for a few hours twice a week
  • Meet new people and be part of our community
  • Help reduce food waste
  • Be supported by our friendly team of staff.

If you haven’t heard back with 5 days please let us know.
